With the holiday season quickly approaching, one of the best ways to get into the spirit is to visit a light attraction. North Vancouver has plenty of magical options to choose from, making for a great idea for a date night with your special someone or a family outing with the whole gang.
Located at the world-famous Capilano Suspension Bridge, Canyon Lights is one of the top winter attractions in Vancouver. It features about 500,000 lights and holiday decorations, lighting up the bridge and the surrounding trees, and is a breathtaking sight. This year Canyon Light runs from November 20, 2021-January 23, 2022. It’s open every day except for Christmas Day.
Grab a hot chocolate at one of the nearby coffee shops at Park and Tilford, and wander through thousands of lights and beautiful holiday decoration displays arranged throughout the gardens. Admission is by donation, with proceeds going towards the City and District of North Vancouver Fire Fighter Societies. The festival runs from December 1-31, 2021.
Grouse Mountain boats some of the most impressive holiday displays in the city, with its Peak of Christmas event that runs from November 25, 2021-January 3, 2022. Along with the mountain’s usual offerings of skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing, Peak of Christmas features sleigh rides, outdoor ice skating, gingerbread house displays, and the spectacular Light Walk Tunnel, where visitors can walk (or snowshoe) through illuminated trails in the forest around a frozen lake.
